I saw this tiny crab on a recent twilight dive at Honaunau and have been unable to identify it. It seems like the distinctive heart-shaped white area on the carapace would make ID simple, but I haven't seen anything like it in my reference books or on the web. Any help in making the identification would be greatly appreciated!
Oh-my-word, I love your blog! I came across you while looking for cushion star (Culcita nova guineae). Now I have to sit and read the whole thing. What camera are you using? Thank you for sharing this. I wish I would have come across your blog while I was in the area last February... Gena
Sorry for not responding sooner. I'm kind of an occasional blogger. I'm delighted somebody likes my blog! You made my day! I use SeaLife cameras for my photos. Over the years I've gone through a few of them as I use them every weekend. They are point-and-shoot type of cameras and available in a range of megapixel capacities. Basically, they are pocket-sized compact cameras with a waterproof housing. If you get one, I recommend getting a strobe as well to get the good colors in your photos. Again, thank you!
